The falls are looking quite lovely at the moment. You'll need ice cleats to get close. Then again, you'll be wanting those cleats on the trails as well.

Notice the large, hanging rock to the right of the falls. We've been waiting for that slab to come crashing down for 30 years. As far as we can tell, it hasn't budged an inch in all that time.

The safest way down from the falls is to alternate crab walking with slow, controlled scooting on your tuchus. Snow pants will help to keep your posterior dry. Or you can stay on the Cakewalk, and admire the falls from there. A pair of binoculars will provide a good - and much easier - view.
Rae wasn't all that impressed with the falls, but she did enjoy a long cold drink from the brook once we were back down on the Cakewalk.
This description truly captures the unique charm of Crystal Falls. The imagery of a half-glacier, half-waterfall scene is absolutely breathtaking—like a masterpiece created by nature itself! I’ve never seen anything like it before. I can’t help but imagine what it must feel like for Rae to take a big gulp of that icy water, with the cold stream flowing down her throat and into her stomach—a refreshingly vivid experience! Crystal Falls is not only stunning but also surrounded by fascinating details and stories. Thank you for sharing this incredible place!
